A geographic information system(GIS) is an information system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present all types of geographically referenced data for informing and supporting the decision making process.

The StanCOG GIS is primarily integrated within the Transportation Model Program and it is through this program that StanCOG provides GIS support to its member jurisdictions and the general public.
